Argentina's CNV bars checks as a capital-markets settlement method. The Comisión Nacional de Valores issued Resolución General 1166/2026, eliminating checks as a means for agents to receive or deliver client funds; only bank transfers from an account in the client's name, or a CVU virtual account linked to the client's CUIT, are now permitted. The rule took effect 15 September 2026 and is aimed at fund traceability and eliminating payment rejections; it does not affect the separate trading of post-dated checks as instruments.
