Market signal
Bitcoin stays pinned in the low $80,000s as dollar strength and firm Treasury yields keep leaning on the tape. Bitcoin held roughly between $82,500 and $83,000 from Monday into Tuesday, unable to shake the same rates-and-dollar pressure that drove last week's slide, while ether sat in the mid-$2,500s and the rest of the majors were little changed. The next scheduled catalyst is Wednesday's US CPI print (October 14), which traders are positioning into rather than any fresh crypto-specific news. CoinDesk
Markets & flows — ETFs, stablecoins & on-chain
Bitcoin ETFs post a second small outflow day, entirely out of BlackRock's fund. US spot bitcoin ETFs shed a net $65.4m on October 12 per SoSoValue/Farside data, with IBIT responsible for the whole amount and every other issuer flat on the day; total net assets held near $106.1bn, about 6.35% of bitcoin's market cap. Ether ETFs stretch their losing streak to a tenth straight session. US spot ether ETFs lost roughly $85.4m on October 12, the complex's largest single-day redemption that day, extending a run that began September 29; spot Solana ETFs also logged a net outflow the same day, an unusual down day for a category that has mostly taken in money since its October 2025 debut. Policy & regulation
France's crypto tax amendments head back to square one as the 2027 budget floor debate opens. The National Assembly's Finance Committee rejected the budget bill's entire revenue section on October 9, so the stablecoin-swap tax and crypto exit-tax amendments it had adopted days earlier don't carry over automatically; supporters have to reintroduce them as the full chamber takes up the government's original text starting today, October 13, with a formal floor vote scheduled for October 20. Neither measure is law. Decrypt
The Chatter
A thin window for the research desks: Arthur Hayes, Lyn Alden, Nic Carter, Galaxy's Alex Thorn, Glassnode's Week On-chain, Ecoinometrics, CryptoQuant's Ki Young Ju, Bankless, Messari and Delphi produced nothing freshly dated in the last 24 hours that added a thesis beyond the dollar-and-yields grind already covered above. Worth checking again once Wednesday's CPI print gives the sector a new argument to make.
