Nigeria's SEC clarifies the T+1 settlement deadline as 5:00pm. In a public circular dated today, the Securities and Exchange Commission clarified that under the T+1 cycle (effective since 1 June 2026), all equity and commodities trades cleared through the Central Securities Clearing System must be fully paid by 5:00pm on T+1, per standard delivery-versus-payment procedure; unfunded broker-dealer accounts default to the CSCS Default Management Procedure. The circular reconfirms foreign portfolio investors are not required to pre-fund accounts before trading, though operators handling FPI trades must maintain controls to ensure timely funding within the settlement window.
