Upstream — mining & supply
Peninsula Energy lifts its Lance resource to 59.0 million pounds U3O8 as delineation drilling reshapes the producing Ross area. Peninsula Energy's updated Mineral Resource Estimate for the Lance in-situ recovery project in Wyoming rose 1.7% to 53.9Mt at 0.050% U3O8 (59.0Mlbs, effective 31 December 2025), with the increase driven entirely by delineation and development drilling in Mine Unit 4 at the active Ross production area, which lifted its resource 15.6% to 7.4Mlbs; the update, prepared by WWC Engineering under the JORC Code, lands as Lance continues to ramp up more slowly than guided. Midstream — conversion, enrichment & fuel
Framatome signs the industry's first commercial contract for a higher-than-5%-enriched fuel reload to a US reactor. Under its Advanced Fuel Management programme, Framatome will supply a series of fuel reloads enriched above the long-standing 5 wt% U-235 industry ceiling to an undisclosed operating US light-water reactor, fabricated at its upgraded Richland, Washington plant under recent NRC approvals for higher enrichment and burnup, with first delivery in spring 2028; it is the first commercial use of the enrichment headroom the NRC opened this year and points toward longer 18-to-24-month fuel cycles for part of the US fleet. Nuclear energy — reactors, industry & demand
IAEA and the Inter-American Development Bank sign a partnership to back nuclear financing across Latin America and the Caribbean. Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi and IDB Group President Ilan Goldfajn signed the memorandum of understanding on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, setting up cooperation on nuclear energy planning, technical assistance, capacity-building and infrastructure financing for IDB member countries weighing nuclear power; it extends to the region the model the IAEA struck with the World Bank last year, at a stage where nuclear new-build across Latin America remains mostly at the policy-interest stage rather than committed projects. The Chatter
Iceberg Research: the short-seller's 24 September report argues Deep Fission's (Nasdaq: FISN) pre-IPO guidance of a $50–70/MWh levelised cost of energy for its buried micro-reactor concept quietly disappeared ahead of listing because the real number implied by its own prospectus is far higher — Iceberg calculates roughly $289/MWh for a first-of-a-kind unit — and separately questions how much of the company's claimed 18.5GW customer pipeline is firm; Iceberg discloses a short position and stands to profit if the stock falls, and Deep Fission publicly rejected the report on 25 September as misleading and is reviewing legal options. Iceberg's thesis, not this desk's — and Deep Fission's rebuttal is on the record too. Iceberg Research report · Deep Fission response
