Market signal
Gold and silver claw back part of Wednesday's hot-CPI selloff as Fed speakers push back on an imminent hike. Wednesday's full session was worse for silver than Tuesday's AM snapshot suggested here yesterday: silver finished the day below $56/oz, its lowest since July and a roughly 5.5% single-day loss, against a roughly 1% drop for gold — LSEG data cited by Trading Economics had the odds of the Fed holding steady on October 27–28 falling to about 50% from over 78% before the CPI print, with a December hike priced at nearly 99%. Thursday brought a partial retracement: spot gold moved back up roughly 1% above $4,140/oz and silver reclaimed the $56 handle, helped by Chicago Fed President Austan Goolsbee calling the inflation data "discouraging" and San Francisco's Mary Daly saying further tightening may be needed but not at this month's meeting — comments markets read as leaning against an imminent move. Platinum and palladium had no distinct catalyst of their own this window. Goodreturns · FXStreet · SMM
Upstream — miners, streamers & supply
No material new item cleared the bar this window. The Sibanye-Stillwater US PGM strike settlement, the Ghana local-contractor directive to Newmont, AngloGold Ashanti and Zijin, and Agnico Eagle's Delta/Helm Bay sale to Vizsla Copper are all older than this window and already part of the record here; Agnico's and Newmont's Q3 results aren't due until late October.
Physical & official flows — central banks, ETFs & bullion
Nothing fresh on official-sector or bullion-market flows this window: the World Gold Council's September central-bank tally isn't due until November, and no new ETF creation/redemption print or COMEX/LBMA inventory update surfaced beyond what's already been reported here.
Silver & PGMs — the industrial complex
No silver- or PGM-specific development cleared the bar this window; silver's sharper-than-gold reaction to Wednesday's CPI print (above) is the closest thing to an industrial-complex story, and it's covered under Market signal rather than repeated here.
The Chatter
An eighth straight quiet window for genuinely new, freely accessible argument from the regular roster. Lyn Alden's most recent on-record remarks (Kitco, Sept. 29) and Incrementum's Ronald-Peter Stöferle's (Kitco, Sept. 25) remain the latest found and are both weeks old and previously noted here; Ross Norman's most recent published view dates to late July; GoldFix stays behind its Founders paywall; nothing fresh turned up from Gromen, Costa, Nieuwenhuijs or the World Gold Council's own analysts. Better to flag the drought again than recycle old calls under today's date.
